Irene Baird (August Eve)
Irene first started playing the D'jembe in 1996 when she lived in Australia. She continued her studies with Mohamed Kalifa Kamara in the Boston area for 5 years. Every year she travels to the villages in Guinea, West Africa to study with Guinean Drum Masters. They have given her their blessings to pass on the lessons she's learned on the D'jembe. |
A Women's Drumming Circle
Sisters In Conversation Through the Waves of Rhythm

Starting in February on the 3rd Friday of each month, there will be a Women's Drum Circle with August Eve instructing. Together we will co-create conversation by exploring polyrhythms mixed with some underlying structure to prevent chaos. Our circle will help us to discover the inner voice we all have; a voice that is so freeing and empowering.
Although drumming is a journey of self-expression, it also requires good listening skills and learning how to use your own voice in a respectful manner. Together we will create the Waves of Rhythm. Doing so becomes a form of meditation, strengthening your voice, mind and spirit. May we all drum in peace.
Absolute beginners welcome at all classes. More experienced drummers will take a larger role in the circle.
