Pioneer Valley Tarab: Middle Eastern Music & Dance
for and by the Community

Welcome to a monthly night of Middle Eastern music and dance. The Pioneer Valley Tarab is an event based upon live drumming and dancing. We welcome all musicians and dancers and wish to create a participant driven night of ecstatic music and dance.

What is a Tarab?

Tarab is an Arabic word for Ecstatic Dance and Music.

What to bring

Middle eastern instruments such as the doumbec, riqq, frame drum, zills or other soft percussion instruments and melody instruments such as the oud, ney, kemence, violin or tar. Dancing feet, flowing costume (if possible) and smiling faces.
