Irene Baird (August Eve)

Irene first started playing the D'jembe in 1996 when she lived in Australia. She continued her studies with Mohamed Kalifa Kamara in the Boston area for 5 years. Every year she travels to the villages in Guinea, West Africa to study with Guinean Drum Masters. They have given her their blessings to pass on the lessons she's learned on the D'jembe.

Student Testimonial

Passionate about her drumming, committed in respectfully sharing the roots, rhythms and culture of the tribal community of West Africa, extremely supportive in her technique of instruction and spiritual in her delivery...these are only some of the outstanding qualities Irene brings to her drumming class.

I have learned many fun and exciting drumming rhythms since joining the class in March 2006. I truly have found my passion in drumming that touches my heart and feeds my soul...just check out my non-stop smile while I'm in class and you'll know exactly what I mean!

I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to reach inside themselves, have fun, share in rhythm, grow and participate in a drumming circle that can change your life. I encourage you to come and find out for yourself. Funga Ala Faya, Ashay, Ashay... "Peace Be With You"
