| Thai Yoga BodyworkSometimes referred to as “yoga for lazy people”, Thai yoga bodywork is a unique and powerful form of applied yoga therapy. Combining therapeutic yoga-based stretching, assisted yoga postures, joint mobilization, and deep tissue compression, the Thai yoga bodywork system stimulates and balances the flow of vital energy within the body, releasing the energy blockages that cause aches, pains, disease, and emotional distress.
A soothing rocking motion is employed throughout the session, easing both giver and receiver into a deeply meditative state of mind, and promoting profound relaxation and tranquility that enhances the connection between mind, body and spirit. Client Testimonials“Receiving Thai Yoga bodywork from Laura has proven to be among the most relaxing and impressive experiences of my life. As a Thai Yoga therapist, Laura is conscientious and methodical. Both her knowledge of human physiology and her experience as a yoga instructor allow her to apply her gentle and powerful touch with great precision and accuracy. She has worked muscles and lubricated joints I had no idea existed, while releasing stress and energy my body had been hoarding for months. Afterwards I felt both the energy and mental peace of a yoga session combined with the muscle relaxation of a deep massage. Laura's bodywork is an ideal defense against the crippling effects of stress and depression, and a wonderful way to both realign the body and refocus the mind.” -Sarah, Hoboken, NJ "Laura gave me my first Thai yoga bodywork session, and it was amazing! She addressed all the pressure points throughout my body (areas I didn't know existed). I felt relaxed during the session and revived afterwards. For years I've had all types of bodywork, though, I felt they were mostly mediocre, sometimes I felt even more discomfort afterwards. Laura's Thai bodywork was so fulfilling, that I want to become certified in it is as well!” -Janel, Hoboken, NJ "I left feeling like I had taken the most opening yoga class in my life. She does all the work. You get all the benefit." -Wendy, Hoboken, NJ “Your Thai bodywork has definitely cured my sciatica, I haven't had any problems with it at all since you worked on me.” -Jean, Hoboken, NJ The results are a powerful release of stress and tension and an increase in health and vitality of the entire body. Other benefits include increased flexibility and range of motion, enhanced circulation, toning and stimulation of internal organs, improved postural alignment, and an overall increased sense of well-being. This form of bodywork is given with the receiver lying on a mat on the floor and wearing comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Laura MarkusAfter earning a Master’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences from NYU, in 2002 Laura became a certified vinyasa yoga teacher through Manhattan’s OM Yoga Center and began teaching full time soon afterwards. She has since studied with many master yoga teachers and become certified to teach restorative and prenatal yoga. Her dedication to the yogic path, lifelong interest in holistic health, and innate nurturing spirit led her to become a certified practitioner of Thai yoga bodywork, a system of bodywork that is deeply rooted in traditional Thai medicine, yoga, and Buddhist meditation practices. During a Thai bodywork session, energetic blockages in the body are released, resulting in greater physical, energetic and emotional balance and paving the way for self-healing. Known as a nurturing and compassionate practitioner, she brings her extensive knowledge of the biomechanics, developed through her own yoga practice, as well as her intuitive healing abilities to her practice of Thai yoga bodywork. She strives to create a safe and meditative space where clients can relax deeply, experience profound opening of the body, and begin a journey towards renewed health and vitality. |
